This gallery
contains images from the opening round of the 2006 Le Mans
Series, staged at Istanbul Park, Turkey, over the weekend
of April 7th-9th 2006. Thomas Erdos claimed LMP2 pole for
RML in the #25 MG Lola EX264, but at the start of the race
was tapped into a spin by a following car and crashed heavily
into the concrete pit wall. The team worked with remarkable
skill to repair the MG, allowing Erdos to re-joined the race
within an hour. Setting some of the fastest laps of the race,
he and Mike Newton fought back to 6th in class, gaining valuable
points for the season.
