LMP2
Champions Rewarded at Glittering Awards Ceremony
RML's
fantastic achievement in winning the LMP2 title in the 2007
Le Mans Series was rewarded with a set of fabulous trophies
at a glittering awards ceremony held in Paris on Saturday,
December 1st.
Mike
Newton and Thomas Erdos (pictured here flanking Team Manager
Phil Barker) each collected a magnificent trophy. During
the course of the season they dominated the LMP2 category;
winning twice (at Spa and the Nurburgring), finishing second
at Monza, and at some stage leading every race they contested.
"It was a great evening for all of us in Paris,"
said a grinning Thomas Erdos, staggering to hold the massive
silverware aloft. "What a great city! And so nice to
be able to enjoy the award ceremony this year with so many
of the key contributors to the RML AD Group sportscar programme.
Of course, there were many more involved in that process
back at the factory and in the UK who couldn't make it to
the dinner, especially the other members of the squad, but
this trophy is for everyone - technicians, engineers and
support staff. They all did a great job and I’m sure
are feeling very proud of their input in the programme."

Among
those present, Phil Barker collected an elegantly tapering
trophy for having guided RML so efficiently to the LMP2
Team Title. For the previous two seasons he has suffered
the frustration of seeing the championship slip away by
a single point, in both 2005 and 2006. While winning the
LMP2 class in the Le Mans 24 Hours in both those years came
as considerable compensation, there was evidently great
satisfaction in having gained the series trophy at the third
attempt.
All
three were then joined by Adam Wiseberg, Motorsport Director
for AD Group, principal sponsor of RML's sportscar programme
since its inception in 2003.
