RML Le Mans Series News
Official Yearbook & DVD
Issued November 29th 2008

The official end-of-season giftfest that is the Le Mans Series Annual and DVD is now in full swing, with confirmation from the ACO that both these round-ups of the year's events are now available.

Between them, the book and the DVD offer a comprehensive review of what has been a remarkable year in European endurance racing.

From the start, it looked as if Peugeot had the championship in the bag, with a succession of impressive victories for the diesel-powered 908. What those wins belied, however, was the inconsistency of the three-car line-up, with no single pairing managing to build upon their successes in the six-hour events. Instead, it was reliability and dogged determination by the experienced Audi squad that saw the German marque snatch the title in a thrilling finalé at Silverstone.

After three years of class-leading runs from Mike Newton and Thomas Erdos, 2008 became the swan-song for the RML MG Lola. Although still a very competitive package, the ageing Lola chassis had to concede supremacy to the all-dominant Porsche Spyders, with Jos Verstappen taking the LMP2 title for Van Merksteijn Motorsport. No such disappointment for Virgo Motorsport, with the British-based Ferrari trouncing the Porsches in GT2 once again, and retaining a well-deserved title.

Relive the season on screen, with the DVD, or in the comfort of your armchair as you admire the fabulous photography (many images by our own contributors here at mg/mazda-lola.com) that makes the 2008 Yearbook one of the best yet.

You can obtain copies by downloading the official Order Forms (click on the image, right, for the DVD, or use this link for the Yearbook). The DVD retails for 19€ plus carriage, while the Yearbook is 53€ plus carriage.
