X-Pro Infra-Red Tyre Heating System

Any first-time visitor to the RML garage during a race meeting cannot fail to notice the warm glow of the team’s Infra-Red Tyre Heating System. Usually sited just inside the rear doors, the cabinet’s bright lights and steadily revolving tyres catch the eye and generate interest every time.

That’s not surprising, since RML’s Infra-Red Tyre Heating System is not only a totally unique concept in tyre temperature management, but it’s also one of the most effective there is. First designed and patented by Tyre Technology Limited, the system has been tried, tested and enhanced by three years of endurance racing with RML’s sportscar programme.

The Le Mans Series race team started their association with the product by using one of the early development units, and was so impressed by its potential, and the very evident benefits, that they decided to become directly involved in the project. RML has since been appointed as the sole licensee to develop the technology even further and to create a race-team friendly unit. RML is also responsible for marketing, supplying and providing customer support for the new and extended range.

Several years down the line and the latest X-Pro Infra-Red Tyre Heating Systems retain all the features and strengths of the Tyre Technology design but now incorporate a series of significant additional benefits.

Refined through hard use, the unit is now very easy to work with and remarkably efficient. Quick to set up, the important hardware is contained within a single flight-case that also doubles as the unit’s base once assembled. The time between unloading the unit from the back of the truck and having race-ready tyres can be as little as fifteen minutes.

  X-Pro Infra-red Tyre Heating System Features
The advantages of the technology over the more traditional tyre warming systems are:
  Precise - Extremely accurate heating of the tyres from 40°C to 100°C
  Fast - The unit can heat a set of tyres to 70°C within 10 minutes
  Exact - The initial heating cycle does not overshoot the temperature set
  Controlled - The temperature is quickly reached and then maintained without ‘over-cooking’
  Deep – The temperature of the tyre carcass rises at the same rate as the tyre’s surface temperature
  Even – The tyres are heated uniformly thus avoiding hot and cold spots
  Compact – The hardware is contained in a single flight case
  Easy - The unit can be assembled by two people inside five minutes
